The Ground Mobility Vehicle (GMV) is a high mobility vehicle used in support of supply units armored battle groups in mobile operations in all phases of a deployment.
The GMV main task is to establish and re-establish axes of advance and supply routes through difficult terrain.
The GMV is used in the combat environment/area within operational area of the Armored Brigades, Mechanized Brigades and Division.
The Western units are prepared to be in combat for up to 7 days in one operation. One day in combat may cover 150 km out of which 90% may be considered as roads. In some extreme cases the movement during one day may be 600 km out of which 95% may be considered as roads.
The Western Armies apply “the push forward” principle for supply services. Out in the field the supplies are transported to different supply points where the supplies are unloaded.
The GMV is used to recover bogged down vehicles. The portable roadway both support recovery vehicles and provide an escape roadway.
In conjunction with the Norwegian Army, Deschamps has integrated a Mobi-Mat® GRIMAT roll on a Hägglunds vehicle.
