Mobi-Mat ® heavy duty mat (MM3) reinforced with composite rods is designed to accommodate heavy load traffic on low bearing terrains; the Ground Improvement Mat is a heavy duty and Commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) roll-out mat system for supporting off road mobility requirements during expeditionary missions over a riverbed and a muddy area.
The MM3 Ground Access Mat weighs 1.64 lb/sqft when reinforced with fiberglass composite rods or 1.34 lb/sqft when reinforced with carbon composite rods.
Mobi-Mat ® Ground Acces Mat was tested by the USMC in East Timor, Iwo Jima, and Camp Pendleton. It provides to any Landing support unit the capability to conduct mobility operations in complex littorals environments.
In addition, the Australian Army used the Mobi-Mat ® during the Indonesian Tsunami Relief and international peacekeeping operations in East Timor.
The Japan Maritime Self Defence Force (JMSDF) uses the Mobi-Mat ® in conjunction with LCAC (Landing Craft Air Cushion).
