Mobi-Mat® Ground Improvement Mat (GRIMAT ) is a heavy duty polyester roll-out mat system, reinforced with composite rods. The GRIMAT is designed to accommodate heavy load traffic on low bearing terrains. Commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS), the GRIMAT roll-out mat system is ideal for supporting off road mobility requirements during expeditionary missions.
Units may use the GRIMAT for river fording, to
by-pass a blown out bridge or to afford speed of vehicle movement
during military operations.
Even submerged, the Mobi-Mat® GRIMAT retains its surface’s
high-traction capability.
The GRIMAT weighs 8kg/sqm -1.64 lb/sqft- when reinforced with fiberglass composite rods or 6kg/sqm -1.34 lb/sqft- when reinforced with carbon composite rods.
The GRIMAT is in use with several European Armies
for Temporary Roadways construction during expeditionary missions
in East European countries or Africa.
The Australian Army used the Mobi-Mat® GRIMAT extensively
for the Indonesian Tsunami Relief Operations and they also used the GRIMAT and Front-end Loader Roadway Dispenser for peacekeeping operations in East Timor.
The US Marine Corps use the Mobi-Mat® GRIMAT for beach landing operations worldwide and have started replacing all their stocks of obsolete fiber glass Mo-Mat with Mobi-Mat® Ground Improvement Mat and Beach-Access Mat for exercises and contingency operations worldwide.
